How much will it cost?
That depends on your building, and we'd rather tell you accurately than guess. Roof size
and orientation, shading, access, your existing electrics and how much energy you use all
change the answer. The survey is free and comes with no obligation, and you'll get a clear
fixed price for your property before you decide anything.
What happens at the survey?
A surveyor visits, measures the roof, checks shading, access and your existing setup, and
looks at how you use energy. It usually takes under an hour. We'll also check whether you
qualify for any funding while we're there. There's no charge and no pressure to proceed.
Could I get funding towards this?
Possibly. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers a grant toward a heat pump with no means
testing, so most homeowners qualify for that one. The Warm Homes: Local Grant is income
assessed and run by your council, and can fund solar, insulation and heating together for
lower-income households in less efficient homes. Solar is usually funded as part of a
package rather than on its own. We check all of it free before quoting.
Do you work with businesses as well as homes?
Yes. Commercial sites often suit solar well, because most of the power gets used on site
during daylight hours. Larger systems need G99 approval from the network operator before
installation, which takes a few weeks, so it's worth starting the conversation early.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not. Most roof-mounted solar is permitted development as long as the panels sit
below the ridge and don't project far from the roof. Listed buildings, conservation areas
and anywhere with an Article 4 direction are the exceptions. We check this as part of the
survey.
Are you properly certified?
Yes. We're MCS certified for solar and heat pumps, which is what lets you claim export
payments and keeps your manufacturer warranties valid. We're Gas Safe registered for boiler
work, and our insulation is installed to PAS 2030/2035 standards. All certificates are
provided on completion.
Do you cover my area?
We cover the whole of England. Our own teams handle work across our home region in the
North West and Yorkshire, and beyond that we work with a vetted network of around 300
accredited contractors so the same standards apply wherever you are. Send us your postcode
