What we collect, and why

When you enquire through our website

The form asks for your name, telephone number and postcode, and optionally your email address and the service you are interested in. We need these to respond to your enquiry and arrange a survey.

We also record which advertisement or search brought you to the site, along with the page you arrived on. This tells us which of our advertising actually works. It is not used to build a profile of you.

Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

When we survey your property

A survey records details about your home or premises: its type and construction, roof dimensions and condition, your electrical supply and meter details, how you use energy, and the surveyor's notes. We take photographs of the areas relevant to the installation — typically the elevations, the roof, the loft, the electricity meter and the consumer unit.

We use this to design a system that suits your building, to price the work accurately, and to brief the installation team.

Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and afterwards, performance of that contract.

Safeguarding information

Where a surveyor has reason to believe a customer may be in a vulnerable position, they record that fact and a short note explaining why. This is a requirement of the consumer protection standards our industry works to, and exists to make sure nobody is pressured into a purchase they do not understand or cannot afford.

These notes are seen only by those who need them. They are not used for marketing and are never shared with third parties except where we are required to by law.

Lawful basis: legitimate interests, namely protecting customers from unsuitable sales, and compliance with the codes of practice we are bound by.

Marketing

We only send marketing to people who have specifically ticked the box asking for it. That box is never pre-ticked, and ticking it is not a condition of getting a quote. Every message we send includes a way to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

Lawful basis: your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information.

We share it only where it is necessary to carry out the work:

If we are ever required to disclose information by law, we will.

Where it is stored

Our systems are hosted by Cloudflare, with data held in the European Union. Our email is provided by Zoho, also in the European Union. Access is restricted to named individuals, each with their own login, and access is logged.

How long we keep it

InformationKept for
Enquiries that do not lead to a survey12 months
Survey records where no work followed3 years, in case you return to us
Survey photographs where no work followed6 months, then deleted
Records of completed installationsAs long as required by the relevant warranty and certification scheme, typically up to 25 years
Marketing consent recordsUntil you unsubscribe, plus 2 years as proof of consent

We delete photographs sooner than the underlying records because they are the most intrusive part of what we hold. Keeping pictures of somebody's loft years after they decided not to proceed cannot be justified.

Cookies

This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. If you arrive from an advertisement, the click identifier is passed in the web address and submitted with your enquiry so we can tell which advertising works. Nothing is stored on your device for that purpose.

If we add advertising or analytics cookies in future, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

Changes
